Dear Boulder,

It is with a heavy hand I write this, and a heavy heart directing.

As of February 2, 2010 The Royal Peacock is no longer in business.

I was only a kid when my dad Shanti opened The Peacock back in 1984. But it’s not just me and my family losing a restaurant, it’s Boulder losing a piece of its soul.

Over the past 27 years I’ve seen people come in for their first dates, get married and then spend every anniversary with us.

I know certain customers who have celebrated their birthdays with us since they were teenagers.

Still others have moved out of Colorado but always make us their first trip right after getting out of DIA.

And others who moved away, never to return, but would have us pack and FedEx our food, frozen on dry ice, because where ever they moved they simply couldn’t find what we offered.

There are hundreds of stories I could tell you about the thousands of customers we’ve served over the years, but you have your own story, and already know what we meant to you.

I hope you know how much you meant to us, loyally coming in year after year - you were never just a face in the restaurant, it was always something more.

So, thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last 27 years - it has been our pleasure.

Although we are closed, we’re not done in this town yet.
